The Issues
- Health Care
Changing what is working well to satisfy long held political desires for a total government take over of health care is not what America needs or wants. As South Dakota’s next Congressman I will endeavor to put and keep patients in control of their health care decisions with their doctors guidance. I will endorse policies that encourage competition which will drive down price and improve quality. I will help keep America’s health care the envy of the world.
- Fiscal Responsibility
As South Dakota’s next Congressman I will fight to balance federal spending with federal revenue. We can no longer talk about this in the abstract or in theory. This simply must happen. This principle will help guide every vote I cast.
- America's Place in the World
America must continue its charge of defending democracy, embracing freedom, and ensuring liberty wherever in the world she is called upon to do so. As a former officer in the United States Air Force I can think of no greater calling. As a United States Congressman I will hold no duty or responsibility higher.
- Energy Security
As South Dakota's Congressman I will support policies that strengthen America's energy independence through market-based incentives and policies that reward American entrepreneurs and create jobs.
- Faith
While serving as South Dakota's Representative I will not set aside my Christian beliefs nor forget what my faith taught me about how I should treat my fellow man. I will use it as a guide in Washington in the same manner as I do now in my daily life.
- Second Amendment
I am a staunch supporter of an individual's gun ownership rights and as South Dakota's Congressional Representative I will work to ensure those rights are never infringed upon.
- A Pro-Life Perspective
My entire professional life has been dedicated to reducing human suffering and improving people's quality of life. When I received my medical degree I took an oath to "first of all, do no harm." My career and my life have upheld this oath. As a physician and a father, I have a pro-life perspective that I will take to Washington.
