Second Amendment

From the brave and rugged early settlers of our state to today's citizens, South Dakotans have a long history supporting an individual's right to own firearms.  As a sportsman and hunter, I know gun ownership is as much a part of South Dakota's history and personality as it is important to its economy.  South Dakota provides its residents with the ability to obtain a permit to carry a concealed firearm—a practice known to reduce crime and save lives.  I believe strongly in the right confirmed by its inclusion in the constitution as the Second Amendment.  It is for these reasons that I am a staunch supporter of an individual's gun ownership rights and as South Dakota's Congressional Representative I will work to ensure those rights are never infringed upon.
